Village Panchat Camorlim
The panchayat was formed in 1973 after bifurcating V.P of Loutolim and Camorlim. Earlier there was just two Panchas elected by the people in a nine member combined panchayat. Since it was a part of a larger area there was a total neglect of this area. Therefore request with representation to the government this V.P was formed with seven members. In the first two elections all the members were elected as unopposed and Mr. Constancio Quadros, retired railway employee, resident of zorrivaddo was elected as the first Sarpanch of the village. When the panchayat formed there was no grant from the government as well as from the larger panchayat. Only thing that was transferred to the new panchayat was arrears of Rs. 7800/- to be paid to electricity department for street lights. The amount at that time was a huge sum.
The members worked to establish the office in a room of the “Communidade”, near the church of Camorlim. One big table with 8 chairs was the first purchase of the elected body with their own contribution and other well-wishers.
